Data Sharing, Availability & Repository Policy

Open Science Commitment

The Journal of Preventive and Integrated Medicine advocates for open science, reproducibility, and academic transparency. We encourage authors to make underlying research data, analytical scripts, and digital artifacts accessible to facilitate clinical verification and evidence synthesis, subject to ICMR bioethics and patient privacy mandates.

Part A: Research Data Sharing & Availability

1. Mandatory Data Availability Statement: All manuscripts submitted to JPIM must include a dedicated Data Availability Statement placed immediately before the Reference section. This statement must transparently describe how and where supporting datasets can be accessed, or specify institutional/legal restrictions that limit public deposition (e.g., patient confidentiality under ICMR guidelines).

2. Recommended Discipline-Specific Repositories: Authors are encouraged to deposit de-identified datasets in recognized public repositories providing persistent digital identifiers (DOIs or accession codes), such as:

Zenodo / Figshare / Dryad (General Data)
CTRI / ClinicalTrials.gov (Trials)
GenBank / EBI (Genomic & Molecular)
Institutional Repositories (IEC-Approved)

3. Data Citation: Datasets deposited in external repositories must be formally cited within the main text and included in the manuscript reference list with their persistent DOI.

Standard Formats for Data Availability Statements
Model 1: Data in a Public Repository
"The datasets generated and analyzed during the current study are available in the [Repository Name] repository at [Persistent URL or DOI]."
Model 2: Data Available upon Reasonable Request
"The de-identified clinical datasets generated during the study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable academic request, subject to Institutional Ethics Committee approval."
Model 3: Restricted Data / Ethical Boundaries
"The data supporting the findings of this study are not publicly available due to patient confidentiality and ethical restrictions imposed by the Institutional Ethics Committee. Inquiries regarding restricted access may be directed to [Contact/Ethics Office]."

Part B: Self-Archiving & Article Version Repository Policy

In compliance with open access standards, JPIM permits self-archiving of all manuscript stages without any embargo period across institutional, disciplinary, or personal digital repositories:

1. Submitted Version (Preprint) • Zero Embargo

Authors may archive the original submitted version on preprint servers (e.g., medRxiv, bioRxiv, arXiv), institutional websites, or personal pages prior to or during peer review. Citation of the initial preprint does not constitute redundant publication.

2. Accepted Version (Author’s Accepted Manuscript - AAM) • Zero Embargo

Authors may deposit the post-peer-review accepted version immediately upon formal editorial acceptance. The deposited record must include an acknowledgment: "Accepted for publication in Journal of Preventive and Integrated Medicine (JPIM), DOI: [Assigned DOI]".

3. Published Version (Version of Record - VoR) • Zero Embargo

Authors may deposit the journal's final publisher PDF across repositories and academic social networks immediately upon online publication. Redistribution is governed by the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), requiring clear attribution to JPIM as the original venue of publication.
